A 3176 to C12 is an easy swap, if you have a 3176A the electronics can be a bit of an issue as they had different ECM plugs but its nothing a competent auto electrician couldnt sort out in a couple of hours. Mounts should be the same but there are several front engine mounts/flywheel housings offered so if you get a C12 make sure the front mount is the same height and flywheel housing has the same mount pad angle as your current engine and it will bolt up fine. Later C12s have a slightly different top radiator hose location (due to dual thermostats) than older ones and 3176s so you may have to modify the top radiator pipe a bit. Exhaust and intakes may need some minor mods to fit also but its pretty basic stuff, if the 3176 has a 4 inch exhaust you should upgrade it to 5 inch for the C12.

That a C-12 you can get up to 430 HP. Compared to a MAX of 365 with the 3176 throwaway Kitty Cat. Try to find the less common C13 Cat bigger bore but Same size as the 3176. In the late 90's CAT made that one also and it could be had with up to 475 HP. A Stupid 10 as I call it can handle up to 1650 easy in Torque so not a issue there. Might be a search but try to get a C-13 same size as the C-12 so look for it also.
