has anyone ever replaced short stroke brake chamber with long stroke? heard a guy the other day said he done it and acted like there was some advantage but never really came out and said why he done it to begin with. just wonderd.... maybe the longer stroke would keep you with in adjustment specs longer if you had a slack adjuster acting up?

to shorten the article... if you're going to replace with long-strokes, do 'em all at once, or you're liable to mess things up.

more travel with a long stroke than a short stroke. when you start to get brake fade with short stroke it is because the drum is expanding from heat. with the long stroke you have more travel there for less brake fade.

Heres an idea instead of replacing a standard chamber with a long stroke to "stay in adjustment longer" due to a defective slack JUST CHANGE THE DEFECTIVE SLACK.

Semi Crazy and truckman29801 Thank this.
