So I've been looking around for a replacement motor and can buy a 2WS that's been rebuilt 150,000 miles ago. I know there's not much difference between it and a 6NZ, but I'm curious what exactly is the difference? Mr. Haney or anyone?!![]()
2WS vs 6NZ??

Pretty much the only difference is the gaskets and seals. Also they machined the gallery out of the block where the cam used to go on the mechanical models. Oil pan gaskets is different, timing cover gasket and I believe the rear housing that the bellhousing bolts to has different seal.
All in all they will both run the same. I personally have a 2WS in my race truck and couldn't be happier with it. -
If you pass on that motor please send me the info. I would love to be able to buy one of those old reliable engines.

great engine, real major difference is the 6NZ has strait teeth gear train and 2WS is helical gear.

Thanks guys. I'm going to try and get over to hear it run tomorrow. It's in a century class that got laid over on it's side. He's supposed to have paperwork from a complete rebuild 150,000 ago, so we'll see if that materializes. It came out of a 379 Pete originally, got rebuilt and stuffed into the freight shaker. What's the pricetag for this thing if it has paper and sounds decent??

I replaced my engine this summer. The wrecking yards were asking between $5500 to $7000 for a running 2WS with no papers or history. I got an MBN that was rebuilt at CAT 2 years ago with papers, some warranty and all history from new from CAT for $9,000
