Hi, I've never driven a truck with 24.5's standard profile(not lp) and I pick one up later today with them. So what pressures do yall run. I'll be running the standard max of 34000 on the drives, normally medium loads like 25,000lbs.
Thanks,
24.5 std tire pressures

100 psi is what we always put in when I used to work at a goodyear tire shop. Every now and then you would get a guy that would want 110, but for the most part 100 is perfect.

whatever it says on the sidewall.
michelin and others do a lot of research and development. why would you ask us? do what they say to keep pressure at.Heavyd Thanks this. -

the pressure on the sidewall is for maximum load, Like Alberta winter weight permit loads up to 6875# per tire, not necessarily the pressure the manufacturer recommend you run at part load. you would have to check with an actual knowledgeable manufacturers representative, not just a salesman. http://www.michelintruck.com/michelintruck/tires-retreads/tireInfo.do?tread=XDA5+#

oh boy, run it at 80 psi then.

Side wall info is for MAX load. 34K on a tandem is NOT max load.
In Longhood's example above the max load in dual configuration is 5840 per tire. Times that by 8 = 46720.
Do you load your drives that heavy? Then by all means the sidewall figure is appropriate.
However 34,000 / 8 = 4250 per tire and IIRC Michelin's load inflation tables (available online) for a typical 11R24.5 load range G in dual config is properly inflated at 70 psi (the bottom end of the recommended pressure ranges)
And read your rim. Polishing my rims today I was reminded - it reads Max pressure 120 psi.
Personally I run my 24.5 drives at 75 psi, steers around 85 - 90.
Your choice though, properly inflated or over inflated.not4hire and rollin coal Thank this. -

On my st230 b.f. sidewall says 120 p.s.i. though this is too much even when I am loaded at 80,000 cause the center of the tires started wearing faster than the outer part of the tires, indicating over inflation.
