How many of us are driving these overweight on the axles everyday?
Rear gawr on the ottawa t2 is only 10886kg but most loads coming in and out of the facility are over 10886kg upwards of 18000kg applied to the rear axle... anyone else getting the run around when bringing this to your companies attention

As long as you stay off public roadways i don’t see any issues.

Thanks for replying! I have heard this many times and it just doesn't make sense as to why you can use a single axle truck to move loaded trailers over the rated capacity of 10886kg on drive axle shunt truck.....there is zero regulations in canada for these units on property. I moving trailers over this capacity by 6000kg or more. Tires are almost down to the rim.

Their company on their property = their rules. If they want to blow out tires, that's on them.

Don't underestimate what single axles will hold.

Dad [a municipal employee] was involved with the county Civil Defense program maintaining various Military surplus items for the county.

They picked up an early Military field hospital in a early single axle Great Dane trailer set up to be pulled by a surplus military White single axle tractor all equipped with military 'lug' tires.

It was packed solid and they felt it was quite heavy so they took it to the nearby scrap yard scale only to get chased off the scale as the rig was 109,000# on 3 axles.

    The tires make a difference.

My last company had 10 switchers, several dedicated on-site but a number were used to do local drop and hook of pre-pulled containers to local customers up to 5 or 6 miles away with some miles on a 4 lane highway.

Never had any issues, the cops either didn't know or didn't care.
