    Good Day!

Owner here trying to get some insight or feedback from mechanics on my issue, as it seems Kenworth does not think we have a problem.

2018 Kenworth T880 Paccar with Eaton automatic transmission. After 30-60 minutes of drive time. Truck is placed in Neutral, Service brake and trailer brakes applied. Ignition turned off. Drive axle continues to creep forward and apply pressure to the drive axle. The brakes are holding but you can hear the creaking of the pads rubbing inside the drum. The drive axle turns and the truck moves anywhere from 2-6" (once again ignition is off), causing the rear tires and trailer to drag forward.

We are in Toronto Canada but it seems a lurching issue has come up with a recall in the US.

Any insight or feedback would be appreciated!!

    Regards,
    AG

    Air ride?

If so, can you dump the truck and trailer air suspension? Do that before you set the park brakes and see if it still does it. Willing to bet its just the suspension geometry changing as the air suspension leaks down.

Any time parking brakes fail to hold fast on any surface and grade your brakes are out of adjustment maybe?

    I second airride geometry.

    Air suspension leaking, or settling.

Yes air ride tractor only. No evidence of leaks. Dealer replace brake pots due to broken springs only 1000 miles ago. Wish I could post the video. We believe the parking brake is holding (with and without load). But unexplainable how the drive shaft continues to build torque when ignition off.

Forgot to mention we dropped two drive shafts (broken U's) in our yard in the last 10,000 miles. Its almost as if the electronic transmission selector is not putting the truck into neutral in time.

Do as I said before: dump air suspension. Release the brakes so everything settles out and de-torques/unbinds, then put the park brake on and see if it does it.

There is much, MUCH more torque going thru those u-joints during normal driving than what you'd see from what you describe. Either the u-joints were defective or you don't grease them often enough.

    pushbroom and spsauerland Thank this.

Where is torque coming from if you turn engine off?

Non-greaseable u joints believe it or not.

    AModelCat Thanks this.
