All right I'm trying to get this truck to idle throughout the night so that I can have AC. I called Freightliner up they said I have to take it to Ryder and they can set it in the computer. I called Ryder up and they said that I could set it on the computer on the dash. They sent me some settings instructions on how to set it. Said make sure the parking brakes on and Hood latches are latched the doors are closed then go into the optimized idle settings and turn it on which didn't work. Had idle settings but no optimized idle settings that I can find anyways. came across a YouTube video saying you could wait till it goes down into shutdown mode and then push the parking brake in and idle it up and that would bypass it that didn't work either. so anyways anybody got any suggestions on how to get this thing to idle through the night so I don't sweat my butt off.

Some will respond to holding cruise set and cruise up at the same time for fast idle.

Well I've taken it to ryder and they hooked up there computer and said the idle shut down is set to off already..They don't know what else to do. Also talked to freight liner again they said it might be password protected and you have to go to a special screen or something that the ryder guy might not have known about..
10/4 I'll try that next time I'm in the truck. I'm off until Monday.

Most times, the idle shutdown is set by outside temperature. If you feel the underside of the driver's side mirror case, you will find a small nub of plastic. That is the outside temperature sensor. Pull the outer edge of your small mirror all the way towards the door, then reach your fingers in to find the plug connection for that sensor. Unplug that sensor (you may need a flathead screwdriver). In a minute or two, your dash will no longer show an outside temp reading. Additionally, the "check engine" and "malfunction indicator" lights will come on. But your truck SHOULD idle from now until you run out of fuel, including idling up for regen if necessary.

This is on a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia in the older body style.

    This may help.

    Issue
    :

This is a new "feature" on all of the New Cascadia vehicles. It is called "inactive idle shutdown" and is present for fuel economy reasons. The feature will shutdown the engine after 45 minutes of idling even if the idle shutdown is disabled.

    Solution :
To disable this feature, the CPC parameter : PG360 - Enable inactive shutdown -- needs to be change to "disabled". All of the New Cascadia vehicles will come from the factory with this parameter enabled.

It won't be long before the only controls we have are stop and go. My manual shift is disabled.

Some of my 2011s had this"hidden" parameter, too. Drove me nuts until I found it.

I have a 2018 Cascadia too. Same issue, except mine has an APU. I’m so disgusted with the Economy settings on this truck, I’ve asked the company to trade it off with one of our Columbia gliders. #### truck only had 19k on it

I figured it was something like that. I stopped at a ryder and a guy hooked a computer up to it and couldn't figure it out. I guess he didn't see the setting you mentioned. I've returned the truck since and got my old truck back. I even tried put a peace of wood on the gas petal to keep it idled up and that didn't even work. it still shut her down after so many minutes. Well if they ever give me that truck model again I'll know what to tell them. Thanks for the info.
