Good Morning folks! I have some time on my hands so I figured I'd use some of it to finally write this review I've been meaning to. I love this forum, it's helped me out very much in the past so I'd like to contribute and seeing as there aren't many (if any) posts pertaining to this particular company out of Atlanta (Forest Park to be exact) I think this will do just that.
I drove for this company for roughly 6 Months and here's my assessment:
Pros:
Decent people, lots of repeat customers (they haul mainly high dollar retail for companies like Target). A portion of their freight is Drop & Hook. They offer stop pay per stop as well. They also have the option of getting you home weekly if you want.
Cons:
- I found out during orientation that the recruiter flat out lied about the pay structure. I was told 39CPM plus stop pay. $20 Per Stop for live unloads. Hey nice, right? Well, it's actually 34CPM if you do SE Regional, which is what I told her I wanted. Want the 39 CPM? You must be OTR and You have to unload the freight at each stop. Most of their loads only have 2-3 stops. Do the math. An entire DryVan trailer full of freight unloaded by you for $40-60...(you can avoid the live unload loads, but it takes some finessing and they will eventually starve you out). How much would they have to pay a Lumper? How much are they charging the customer for these unloads but giving to you?
- Their Elogs systems are very old and unreliable. I've never had to break out my Paper Logs so many times because of malfunctioning Elogs. What makes this suck even more is the frequency in which their trucks are pulled in at Weigh Stations for inspection. They offer $100 for every clean inspection but good luck with these old trucks and trailers they have. That DOT officer will find SOMETHING. Premiers Safety guy even admits himself that they're Unsafe Driving CSA scores are abysmal and costing them business. They lost their oldest account to this.
- Their equipment is old and unreliable. They are supposedly getting in new trucks. We'll see.
- No APUs, Inverters, Bunk Heaters, etc. You must Idle to stay cool/warm while you sleep. I personally don't like this, but hey.
- VERY Expensive Health Insurance. Even the nice lady from HR that presents their plans to you during orientation laughs about the rates.
- I personally witnessed 3 guys during orientation get denied because of accidents that were not their fault. I personally heard the Safety person that handled qualifications explaining this to the drivers that they bused in from hundreds of miles away and wasted a week of their time. If you make it to the final day of orientation don't get excited. These guys literally wait until the last minute to start checking your history/background.
I stayed just long enough to get some longevity because being a job hopper kind of hits you these days. Yeah, they got me. Hopefully with this post I can help some other driver make a decision.
Thanks everyone and have a Happy & Safe 2017!![]()

I currently work here and coming up in July 2017 I will be at my 3 year mark. I was fortunate enough that when I hired in (based out of Michigan), I did start at the .39cpm and was issued a 2014 full sleeper Cascadia with an apu on it. After 2.5 years, I did finally manage to get them to get me on a good weekly run where I do drop and hooks all week and get home every weekend.
After about a year and a half here, I did have to change my dispatch from being out of Monroe Michigan to Evansville Indiana due to me having issues with the staff in Monroe.
I have a Rand McNally unit in my truck and haven't had any elog problems with it and they recently switched over to the new PeopleNet in the new trucks. A lot of the old trucks are gone now and most trucks (besides a few day cabs) aren't older than a 2013.
They have gotten some new trailers, but there still are a lot of old trailers, so I would warn anyone working here or hiring in to make sure you do full inspections on all equipment and report problems and get them fixed immediately (the company pays for repairs and pays you for your down time). As far as inspections, in almost 3 years, I have only been pulled in once for an inspection.Need4Speed Thanks this. -
I drove for Premier Transportation for two years. I drove solo and delivered to the Malls and unloaded. I enjoyed 90% of it and found the people in all departments very helpful especially the dispatchers. I was an OTR driver and dispatched out of Forest Park, GA and also worked a lot with dispatch out of the Evansville, IN terminal. Over time my earnings dropped and I was getting less desirable loads then when I was new so I decided to take a break and do some other things. Good company, treated me well and got me in a new Cascadia. Some of the trailers were in rough shape no doubt; I had two DOT inspections and I received 100% on them both. In my three years of driving I found the drivers in the company generally pretty happy compared to other companies they had worked for. Of course, it can vary week to week and depending on your personal experience and routes.

Premier addopted a company-wide policy in March of 2019 which is immediate termination if you get 1 speeding ticket. You get issued a speeding ticket...that is your last day. Period.
