I have a 2017 Peterbilt 389 glider. I cleaned the battery posts last week and now I’m not getting dome lights when I open my door after the truck is shut off for just a few minutes. When I turn the key to the on position everything comes back on. I’ve also lost my power locks with all this. Any suggestions??

You have a bad ground somewhere...probably on the battery side of things since you took the terminals apart but check all grounds including one from engine block to frame and battery box to frame. Dome lights only work by completing a “grounded” circuit. Also check your battery cut-off switch if you have one. These are notorious for causing electrical nightmares.

Did all of the checks I can. Everything seems to be working except for the power locks and keyless entry. Any ideas???

Hmm it may just need to go thru several “drive cycles” to clear itself out and reset. My wife’s 2011 Mazda 6 sedan does this if the battery goes dead. The power windows or locks will not work until she completes about 10 start, drive, & stop duty cycles and then BAM they start working. If that doesn’t do it... maybe fuses?

Without a wiring diagram or actual testing with a multimeter it's next to impossible to know what the problem is. Electrical problems are usually tiny and cause big problems. -

Check ALL the fuses with a test light on the backside. Fuses are not labeled very well and quite often do multiple things, not just what is on the label. Keyless entry fuse is labeled RKE.

Thanks for all the replies!! I’ve already done what y’all have said and still things aren’t right. I was home Monday night and when I went to start the truck Tuesday morning the dang keyless entry worked. The only problem is that a couple hours later it didn’t again and hasn’t since. GRRRR!!!! I’m getting really confused and Pete is absolutely no help. Their answer is always take it to a dealer. I don’t wanna pay a butt load of money for nothing.

Might be a good idea to get the vecu scanned, could help point in the right direction, low voltage codes..short or open, com codes, ect.. even flashing the vecu might set things right if its a software issue.
