im looking to purchase a 2016 Freightliner with Cummins motor with 250,000 miles on it. Some people told me to stay away from Cummins motor in frightliners & some said its good. Any advice ??

Not sure why some one told you that, Cummins is as good as any. I wouldn't shy away from one but the DD series is also a good choice, especially for fuel economy.

Don't know much about them other than the fuel pump issues. Ceramic plungers can come apart and wipe out the entire engine. I guess on the updated X series they fixed that along with a few other things. If you get it have the pump replaced for piece of mind. Get a ecm read out and dyno before you commit to anything
Edit: carbon packing was another issue -
with some work on the egr the carbon packing should not be a problem
