have a 2015 international ProStar. 307000 miles give or take.

This all started about two months ago or so. Pulled up to a pump at the truck stop and my rear tires were up about 2 in more than my front drives were.

Driving home from there every time I hit a decent bump felt like my cab was slamming against the frame of the truck.

Ryder replace the leveling valve and all was good. Couple weeks after that the same thing started happening again. Cab felt like it was slamming against the frame every time I go over decent sized bump.

I thought what the hell they just replaced the leveling valve what else could it be? Bad shocks?

I remembered i accidentally hit my 5th wheel slide button and I thought maybe I reposition ed it unknowingly. So I've moved it forward and back and it didn't make a difference.

So I took it to the shop and they replace the cab leveling valve which fixed the issue sorta. I mean the cab doesn't slam against the frame every time you hit a bump like It did before but now it feels like it's wanting to Buck me out the window.

I thought well maybe I put my fifth wheel in the wrong place and I need to move it back where it was before. I'm thinking maybe I'll move it back towards the middle see what that does.

Anyways my question was does anybody think my shocks need to be replaced I don't think they've ever been replaced on this truck and has over 300,000 miles I don't even know how long shocks are supposed to last I don't see any oil leaking out or anything so I don't know.

You say they changed the leveling valve. But did they set it to the correct ride hight?

Gotta be shocks and/ or leveling valves out of adjustment. Most newer Trucks seem to be set kind of at a soft ride. Either way shocks only slow down the movement of any parts. Too much or too little air will be made worse by bad shocks.Usually only last about a year or so. I guarantee at least half of them have no absorbing action left at this point.May as well not be on Truck at all. It would ride same

Yeah that's what I was thinking too. so I guess I'll be getting Ryder to replace these shocks. hopefully they won't give me some line like I don't see them leaking so they must be fine..

I don't know I didn't ask cuz I had no idea you could set those things to a specific height. Now I'm wondering what I'd do I need to set mine at.

    Replace the cab shocks.

Also your shocks on the truck, over 100k?

    Replace them too.

I had to recently adjust mine after replacing air bags, took 2 different times to get it right. Just a little off makes a big difference. You can compare the way your air bags look to similar Trucks to get an idea. Cab height might be a little harder to tell. Usually you can rock it by hand, and tell if it’s bottoming out maybe it’s too low or needs shocks. Or maybe too much air no movement.

307,000 but the cab doesn't have shocks. I looked all over and didn't see any. Usually there right next to the air bags but not on this truck.. I called ryder they said I would have to bring it in as usual. They said they would have to look at the shocks for leaks. I said they could have leaked all there fluid out a long time ago and the blue beacon could have washed it off for all we know. So i guess they'll pull one or two of them off and compress them to see if they pop back out or something along those lines. I told them either way the shocks have over 300000 miles on them so there obviously due replacing.. Will see.

I looked at them and they look like there all the way extended out which before they were all the way down. I also called ryder and talked to them about it and they said the set them to factory specs the way they were before basically assuming they were set to factory specs before. Really I have no idea why they wouldn't be. We've had these trucks since they were brand new.

They probably need to set it again. Sounds like too much air now. I was going to replace my valve, and decided to give it one more adjustment and it stayed put. Next time drive it around a bit and see if the heights changed while you’re still near Shop.
