Hello everyone I had a question that is making me feel stupid. How do I get a 2015 Prostar to idle? I have tried using cruise and it does not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks, and be safe.

May not be able to, I had a 2015 ProStar rental a few weeks ago and it would not idle for more than 3 minutes, asked Ryder if they could turn that off and they said they could not. I needed it to idle to keep the batteries up while I ran my electric pump for my car trailer, otherwise it didn't work as well. I tried all the tricks I know, such as leaving the tractor brake off but setting the trailer brake, but it would not idle. It even shut off on me while waiting in line to pay my toll on the Thruway even though I had been moving a little bit, apparently it has to move a certain distance and speed to stay running.

Hmm. That does not sound promising. I wounder if I rig something up to hold the clutch, or accelerator down to about 800 rpms if that would work?

must be how they are setup by the company/rental place. Our 2015's will idle until they run out of fuel if you'd let 'em.

    It's in the ecm

You have to bring it to the dealer and tell them to take the anti idle off .

It has to be plugged into the computer to do this .

It depends on how the truck was ordered. If you want it to be certified for use in California than it MUST have idle shut down programmed in from the factory. This is not dealer adjustable without programming support from the factory with proper documentation that the unit is not used in California. It is also tamper proof so no matter what combination of brakes or switches you have it will shut down. If they ordered it to be EPA CARB compliant for use in California then there is nothing you can do.

    brian991219 Thanks this.
