So I believe my kingpins are bad cuz I keep getting my tires wearing out on the inside. Now everytime I ask freightliner to get kingpins they tell me my truck can’t be replace and that I need to replace the whole front axle. My question is is this true or can is there a way to replace them because I’m doing some research on YouTube abs people are replacing them. If so witch ones should I get please help. Thanks in advance.

Technically they may be correct. My guess is you have a Hendrickson steer axle. Depending on the axle design the King pin itself is cryogenically set into the axle and is not replaceable. But……..the wearing bushings are still serviceable and can be replaced without replacing the pin. Before getting carried away, find a shop that knows the axle and have the axle inspected for wear to see how much play there is. If the wear is still minimal it can likely be repaired without replacing the entire axle.

All service information on the axle should be available to download direct from the manufacturer website. The axle seems to be gaining popularity as I keep seeing more and more. Replaced springs on one a month or so ago. Have not had the personal pleasure of diving into the pins yet.

Most spring shops can easily replace the pins in axle if needed. I replace them everytime I do them, but on auxiliary steerable axle. Good reamer will set you back $300-400. Probably cheaper to just take it to a spring shop.
