I have a 2015 Freightliner Cascadia with 718k miles. The other day came out to get going. Truck cranked about 3 times and then stopped!! On the screen it showed Eng 1 Diag 1 Fault 1 but no spn code. I Checked Fuses and connections and found nothing wrong. It was a super cold morn and it snowed the night before. Also Truck was recently in an accident where I rear ended someone.(accident wasn’t my fault) had to replace coolant tank and radiator core supports. I also recently replaced starter about 2 months ago and starter seemed fine. Called a mobile mechanic and he jumped the starter. Told me I had an engine relay issue. but he couldn’t locate exactly where it was. He Showed me exactly how to jump the starter. The next day I tried to jump the starter to get going and truck wouldnt turnover. Called another mobile mechanic and he came out and jumped the starter. Then he told me it was a Sam Chassis Module. I Didn’t turn the truck off all day. Drove 436 miles and got home turned the truck off. Just for ####s n giggles I wanted to see if it would start. Turned it off and turned it back on and it cranked right over like nothing happened. Did it again and it turned over. Check engine light is gone. Im $600 poorer and still don’t know if my truck is ok? What do you guys think?? I appreciate all responses.

Eng 1 code means there’s a fault stored in engine control module.

Some faults can be retrieved through the dash, but not all. If you continue to scroll through after this display shows up, you should be able to retrieve the actual code.

Can try to unhook batteries/kill switch for about 15 minutes at least.

    Have you tested the batteries.

Sounds like one could be shorted and draining the others.

I had that problem 3 months ago. When I left voltage was 13. When I came back in the morning. It was 4 volts.

Wound up replacing a a worn out battery cable and so far truck starts each Morning with no issues. I don’t know if that was the issue but since then I haven’t been able to duplicate the previous issue. Fingers crossed that was it!!!
