Just stay away from them . I pass by places that have been trying to sale those trucks for a year and cant move them . Look at Detroit or Volvo motors and see if the after treatment system has been replaced (new one box ) . Look at idle hours and if they have a apu or epu . Buying used is a crap shoot.

I’m not sure how they would have gotten any better. Junk is junk. The resale trouble alone is enough to stay away. If you do get one your only option is to take some of the trouble parts off it, if that makes sense.

Wow I really appreciate the comments guys I'm getting ready to step over into the owner operator world and I saw some pretty good deals on the pro stars with that maxxforce motor but after reading so many bad reviews I will continue searching for something with the different motor

A 2014 should have a N13 not a Maxxforce, which is better, if it has DEF on it it’s a decent engine it doesn’t have the EGR cooler failures like the older ones (still not as powerful, or as reliable as an ISX) if it is a Maxxforce without DEF Run away as fast as you possibly can there have been some calibration updates over the years and have made the EGR coolers more serviceable, but they are still crap. I feel bad for OOs that purchased these they ruined a lot of people’s credit and businesses. There is a reason they are so much cheaper. As far as the truck when we were having a lot of failures on the 10-12s coming in constantly the drivers all said the same thing “I love the truck, it’s comfortable. I just wish it had a Cummins, and wish I could keep it out of the shop.
