Maxxforce 13. Excessive pressure getting into the coolant reservoir. EGR blocked off. I replaced the air compressor.. Not sure what else it can be.

Even if it’s blocked off? (for testing purposes?)

I replied to your PM, but I'll repeat here for anyone following. Head gasket failure is not likely as these engines us a dry gasket, no coolant passes through it. Your next step is actually check the pressure the engine coolant is making to make sure you don't have a bad cap or the coolant reservoir neck is warped or cracked. Test the cap or replace it. Those caps are rated for 15 psi, if the engine is making more still after the work you have done, you need to perform a combustion gas in the coolant test. I have never seen a failed egr cooler cause an engine to push coolant. I would be leaning to a cracked head.

Thank you! How often do you see a cracked head on a MF13? I didn’t have any problems until I took a small hose off the top passenger side of the low temp radiator to change a clamp. Coolant shot out. I put it back together and then I had issues. Idk if it a coincidence or what. Would the air to liquid interstage cooler cause issues?

I have only seen this a couple times. It is possible more coolant spilt out than you realized and caused a air pocket somewhere that caused localized over heating, then once coolant flowed over the hot spot there was thermo shock to cause a crack. This is a long shot though.

I’m hoping it’s just an air pocket that’s being stubborn at this point. I’ve already waisted money on a compressor. Maybe I should get them to drain the system and refill it under vacuum the proper way…

Vacuum filling is the proper way.

Just wanted to give an update on my coolant pressure issue with my MF13. While taking the head off the dealer said they’ve found a broken head bolt and they saw a sign of compression leaking pass the gasket. They’re gonna check the liner height also. The head is at the machine shop getting pressure checked. Just wanted to ask you all if the broken bolt/head gasket issue can cause a coolant pressure issue? The engine is dry deck so I’m not sure.. Thanks.
