Hello all,
I have a 2013 Maxforce having low boost. I checked the actuator and it works so then
I plugged the Actuator to see if that make any difference. I am having about 7 psi more boost after plugging it and it pulls good on hills too and also as soon as the turbo kicks in I hear screeching sound. Would that be the bearing in the turbo spinning. Which turbo would that be the low pressure or the high pressure.
The codes I got are
SPN-524285 fmi 14
SPN-520211 fmi 7
I would I appreciate your help in this.
Thanks
2013 Maxxforce Low power

How long have it been since your fuel filter has been changed?

Those codes are not engine, but body controller stuff. Upper is high pressure, lower is low pressure. The sound could be a failed turbo or just a leak.

Good afternoon, I have a question for you, have you ever seen a maxxforce that pops out the fuel lines from the fuel rail, I have one that keeps doing it, its 2013 Maxxforce 13, we put in a new fuel pump because it kept losing power, once we changed it, power was back to mormal, but it has popped 5 fuel lines so far, the same one 3 times, any suggestions? Could it be a faulty injector? Thanks for your help. -
Couple of things, first, each fuel line between the rail and head should have a small black plastic clip on it. This clip actually absorbs engine vibration to prevent the line from splitting open. If any are missing you need to replace it. If they aren't missing, the engine might have a bad vibration dampener. I have never actually seen this, only heard of it from other techs at training sessions.
Centurion19 Thanks this. -

There is no testing for injectors other than crankshaft angularity tests that you need Navistar Electronic Diagnostic for. There is also no testing or checks for a bad vibration dampener. Sorry, that is speculation only. There is also a specific torquing procedure for fuel line nuts and those lines are one time use only, so if someone reinstalled old lines and didn't torque them right, I guess that could cause failures too. I have never personally seen fuel lines fail the way you describe, so I can only guess in this situation.

if you have a maxforce 13liter. and did a repair on the fuel system which you had fuel lines off the common rail and now experiencing line coming off most likely failure is over torquing the fuel lines. they have a very specific installation procedure to prevent this. I have seen this problem before after a repair. the line is a low torque then a turn.

By the way the maxxforce family of engines cover ever thing from a 7 liter v8 to the maxxforce DT {former DT466 and DT570} Then the maxxforce 13liter. Which has gone thru allot of changes. The newest version of that motor is now called a A26.
