All I can suggest is to Google everything you can about the 2010-2012 ISX15 CM2250 engine.
They had alot of issues with the ceramic plunger in the fuel pump coming apart and wiping out the motor, Cummins did issue a fix for it in a redesigned plunger, but you need to replace the fuel pump to get it
The 2013-2014 ISX15 CM2350 is a more improved version, but the early ones had problems with carbon build up on the piston walls of the engine.
The 2015 ISX15 CM2350 solved that problem with carbon scrapers on the piston rings.
You can check the model of the engine by looking at the metal engine tag on the engine.
Anyways, all these Post Emission engines have their problems, will you get one that will run to 1 million plus miles without a hiccup?
It's possible, but rare.
If you don't need to run into Comifornia, I would suggest to buy a Pre Emission or Glider truck, invest a little bit of money for any repairs or maintenance and you should have a trouble free money maker.
These Post Emission trucks are engineered to be Shop Queens and make the Stealership money, not you. -
Hey @boneebone, just got my new trans installed bout 2 weeks ago and they had a Prostar there doing an inframe because the fuel pump grenaded and took out the engine.
Mechanic said company was fighting with Cummins on it, but was coming up short.
How ya been? -
Lol, yep I give good advice on this Forum, hopefully some of these Drivers will do their due diligence before they buy a Post Emission Truck.
Cummins doesn't like to pay on the Fuel Pump Plunger fiasco, even though there was a Recall and it's a known problem.
How did the Transmission swap work out for you, did you have them replace the Transmission Mount Bushings?
I think I might need to do a Clutch Job as I think the throw out bearing is starting to make noise.
I've been good, I didn't see you on the road last week, now I know why.
