    Hey everyone!
I just put a down payment on 2012 Freightliner cascadia. It has a Cummins isx. 450k miles. 10 speed. I'd like to know drivers' experiences with those. I'm mainly concerned about reliability, maintenance, repair cost and what to look out for.
Thanks in advance and be safe out there!

I don't not what to say except I just did all the dirt work and hired a customer planter to plant a crop. The results are not as expected. I have done this before, years ago, with the same company. I contacted what you should consider an expert, the county extension agent. He said well go farmer! What do you mean? Well that is what many of them do, what ever they want then call when they have a problem. New weeds in the area, different soil, different chemicals, different temperatures, etc.
Ask questions on the search block at the top at the top right of your screen. There are lots of posts on ISX'S. If your 10 spd is manual it should be good and some people doing well with the autos. A company I work with has a 2013 ISX's that has been out of service for weeks. Oil related emission devise money problems, thousands.
Also read Heavyd's post on emission maintenance. It is in the IHC section under a different engine but I found it interesting.
Well go trucker! Did not mean to be an a s s but we both a little late. I hope you have a good one and if you post your engine and trans spec's someone else maybe knows more about them.

Looking for model? numbers like 1860? 2250? associacted numbers CPL and engine serial numbers. Some people maybe able to share their experience with its sisters look up TSB's, recalls, warranty info it inspired. Trans works the same way. You may get no replys but if you do not give good info no one can.

It's got DEF, ratio is 3.42. They didn't give me a model number yet or engine serial number but I'll ask

If the ISX15 is not a CM2350 then I would strongly stay away from it. The CM2350 was introduced in the 2013/2014 engine year.

The earlier ISX15 engine models had alot of problems that the CM2350 addressed when it was introduced.

You can check the engine tag for the model.

China_Cummins04.jpg 2012 is most likely cm2250 engine. They had ceramic fuel pumps plungers which caused engine rebuilt at 200-250k miles. So you make sure high pressure fuel pump is updated. Also 2250 and early 2350 had oil consumption problems because of piston rings carbon packing and engines were rebuilt at 250-300k mile mark. Cummins added carbon scraping ring in the liners in the middle of 2015 to solve that problem.

Thank you guys great info. Luckily the place where I'm buying(lone mountain ) lets me switch to a different truck if I choose. Currently the only used trucks they have are 2012 freightliner cascadia with Cummins and same year Volvo 670 with Volvo d13 motor(13 speed). I just told them that I might pick Volvo instead

The Volvo D13 is a better motor than the ISX15, just make sure the Injector Cups have been changed and not leaking and the EGR valve and cooler are good.

You also can't go wrong with a 13 speed, I would stay away from iShift or any AutoShift transmission. They are nice when they work, but eventually they will start giving you codes and that's when your wallet starts getting lighter and lighter.
