My 2007 KW T600 Cummins has both the regular fuel filter and the fuel water separator (FF2200 and FS1000). In talking to the dealer, some guys run 2 FF2200s instead of a filter + fuel water separator.
The reason I ask is that in winter with biodiesel the FS1000 gets clogged pretty #### quick, like 5000 miles.
It's easy enough to change but just a hassle.
Any problem running the two FF's in the winter? I know the FS1000 is a really small micron so I'd lose some filtration.
By the way, 1.7 million and still running strong.
thanks

Filter cost about 15 bucks. A set of injectors is about 3000 bucks. Saving a few bucks now can cost a lot more later. Do you have any other fuel options?

-Coolant heat option
-12V heat option
-120V heat option
Problems solved !!
Don't degrade filtration just so you're not changing filters, that's idiocy. Most extreme example would be running without filters.
Fix the problem and UPGRADE your filtration ....TallJoe Thanks this. -

You can get a wide variety of filters... I would recommend the plus size filters to reduce your need to change them...
On a 2007 truck , a 10um filter should give you good service, easy easy to change and cheap. Buying them by the case helps too..
I usually run 2um or 7um btw , the 10um is my minimum.TallJoe Thanks this. -

Also the heat options are far better
One Davco can replace everything else because of filtering level selection.
Example, I usually run the plus size 2um or 7um filters. The 2um is far superior to the factory metal spin on filters. (Minus the CAT UE filters)Last edited: Jan 7, 2019

I know this is an older thread, but I can’t post a new thread before a few more posts lol. I have a 2009 389 Pete with the ISX in it. Every other truck I’ve driven has had the open element (Viewable) filter on the frame rail plus the factory screw on that’s mounted on the motor. My truck however has a metal cased FF2203 on the frame and a 2200 on the engine. Haven’t seen much info on this elsewhere. I guess my question is how hard would it be to convert to a viewable filter with a water separator?
Thanks
