Newbie on Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan with some Freightliner Business Class M2 electrical issues. Have no power to the right headlamp, the hazards only flash on the instrument cluster not on the front or rear. Low air beep constantly going off. Basically the opposite of a 'No J1939' issue. I have checked the fuse box under the hood, and also all the fuses in the aux distro box on the frame cross member. Last 8 of VIN: 7HX00052 Thanks in advance!

####, you're a bit far from your nearest Freightliner dealership, lol. Check the grounds. I had major electrical issues in a Freightliner Columbia that were all due to poor ground connections. Everything on the Columbia grounds through the starter.
Wouldn't surprise me if the little trucks are the same way. -
Gonna move this to the garage.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will check all grounds that I can find tomorrow. Yeah, we don't have the luxury of a stealership visit here, lol. Sorry if I posted up in the wrong area. Thanks for the move.

You're welcome.
Too bad you weren't given an interesting European market truck to mess around with. That would be fun. -
Check the chassis module....early M2's commonly had corrosion from water intrusion. Could be located behind cab on left frame or they moved them under driver floorboard area....can't remember exactly when though.

I might can send you some info on this tomorrow. I will try and remember. We had a M2 in recently that had same issues. It was a fuse/relay box behind cab. I will try and get information on which one it was. It has a name but I can't remember right now.
These trucks are a headache sometimes with wiring. At least the one I work on is. It is used in locations (fertilizer, lime spreading) and it eats up everything. -
Thanks. Still troubleshooting it. I know at some point, not too recently, someone attempted to jump start the truck. Unsure if these issues existed since, and it was just never brought to our attention. I hear they hooked the jumper cables to the master switch (yeah, I know). They now know about the jump post in the left wheel-well. Are the computers on these trucks VIN-coded? Unplugged a connector from the one under the hood and the low air beep stopped. We can swap in one from one of the other four trucks to see. Unless they're coded to this specific VIN.

Update: Prolink pulled the following: SID 38 which I googled and it says 'Missing Chassis Module CAN Message' and FMI 09, 'Abnormal update rate'. One more for low voltage, but that must be when they had to jump it.
Under hood computer swapped with it's sister truck and no change.Last edited: Apr 10, 2015

I can't find a picture of it or info. I can tell you that it is mounted behind cab and batteries around the frame. Black box and it should have something about headlights on it. I think there is only 2-3 harness connections (could be wrong about that). PDM box. If I had that truck here I could take a picture.
This truck had the same issues you are describing. Not saying this will fix yours but it did this one.Last edited: Apr 10, 2015
