    G'day gurus!.
I have been noticing a sweet coolent spell when driving lately.

I have beed adding about 1/2 gallon every 2-3 days in order to bring it to the sensor to start and work for the day.
the "mechanic" I paid was unable to fid where the leak was coming from as there was lots of green coolant at the end of the day all ove the underside of the passenger suspention and the wind whipping it around.

I finally checked it myself in the mourning when all was cold, wiped the area down and idled the truck up to about 190-200 Deg. i found a small fresh coolant puddle. was behind the lower turbo looked to be at the seam above the freeze plug on the block!!.
I have attached pics for any assistance I can get. My maintenance fund is getting VERY low untill I get some jobs paid in Im expecting.

    Sorry for the long winded description IMG_20180705_142259.jpg IMG_20180705_142259.jpg IMG_20180705_142833.jpg IMG_20180705_142949.jpg IMG_20180705_142259.jpg IMG_20180705_142833.jpg IMG_20180705_142949.jpg
    Thank you for any assistance.!

can you further pin point the source?

is that dripping from the exhaust manifold? or is it from between the head and block? or is it simply running down from a oring plug or welsh plug leaking from the coolant manifold cast into the head above the exhaust manifold flange?

    Sir,
    thanks for your reply.
I do not know the proper name for some of the thing you mention.

the absolute furthest I could trace up was the dark upper half above the yellow circular plug where it appears the slightly less dark turbo bolts to the block.
i cant tell how much farther up it is trailing from (if at all).
I wish I could provide better info / pics.

at a guess from your pictures and referencing online parts manual I suspect the coolant is either from the number 4 exhaust port leaking out the manifold or its leaking from between the head and the block.

does it blow any steam/smoke on startup and smell sweet? or is it ever hard to start?

    Rolling18 Thanks this.

Luckily niether of those things, exhaust is almost always clear, no sweet antifreeze smell out the exhaust I ONLY smell it from under hood when it get of hot motor / exhaust parts.

wouldnt a platnium rebuild prevent any of those thing from happening?? (new gaskets)

it might, or it might not. depends on the cause of the leak.

might be worth borrowing a boreascope and having a closer look to determine the cause.

You can buy a coolant press. tester pump and put pressure in it and watch for the leak to start and mark where its leaking from, then fix it when eng cools down?

  9. Get a dye test to locate leak or take it back to your platinum rebuild location and tell them to fix the issue.

Sure it isn't blowing up from hose between W/P and oil cooler or a pre-cooler hose?
