Someone told me there is more to a truck beside the motor we all look at..
    tranny rebuid, 5k
    rearends, 15k
and i myself over look suspension when it wears out too. Just a habit i should break.

And if you can make it last a yr then rebuild should be ok

    buddyvuk Thanks this.

The Cummins N series is one of the most bulletproof engines ever made.

in the past i had the same cummins n14 red top 525hp ,13 speed in freightliner century class ,bought it with almost 730,000 miles on it, never any single problem with this engine,no egr and biuld like a tank, great pulling power and awsome avg mpg ,always over 6,3 no matter what weight it hauld or terrain i drove, sold to my friend with 1,000,000 miles .....has now 1,390,000 miles and no overhaul beenmade so far..... still runs strong, i relly miss that beast ,personally i love cummins engines and recommend to everyone

One of the best motors made...but any of the 3 made in that vintage are good. Boils down to personal preference and past history/maintenance, I wouldn't be afraid of it at all.

My preference goes to either a Series 60 or an N14. Series 60 is cheaper to maintain and will pull just as good as an N14 or Cat.

So when you buy a W900 you want a 60 Series in it?

I had some injector issues with our '95 N14, but other than that it was reliable. I think our 2001 6nZ Cat is the most reliable engine ever made.
