Question driver... I was looking to buy an old freightliner I came across a 1994 with 700,000 miles on it he’s asking for 30 thousand it looks really good with brand new tires and everything is up to code!!! I was just wondering is that a good buy and how long will it last!! And he says he rebuilt the cat motor in 2005

2005 is 14 years back. that's an old motor. And a 94 with only 700,000 doesn't smell right.

Not a bad buy if he can verify that it actually does have 700k on it... like his maintenance receipts if he saves them. I save mine, they are in my filing cabinet... do you have any pics of the truck you can show us?

    15k too much.

Do due diligence ... especially a dyno and blowby.

That’s a lot of money IMO even if it’s original miles and OH. Why did it need an OH anyway so soon. All in all it’s still a 94 very hard to finance. For that reason Cash only buyers market. Maybe somewhere in 20 s but not $30 k

Pre ELD truck prices are overly inflated, but that just is way too much. He's trying to take advantage of the pre ELD situation and see who he can find to squeeze every penny out of. He probably has it listed ridiculously high hoping someone will give him 20 something for it, and it's probably not nearly worth it.

For $30,000 that truck should have a new engine that is brand new today with almost 0 miles on it and a warranty. It also should have a massive laundry list of repairs that are within the last year or two so that you can turn the key and motor down the road and not worry about that truck for some time. I suspect that is not the case, but you certainly should be able to get all the service records and everything else for that kind of money.
