1985 Peterbilt 359 3406B about 425hp 15 speed 3 axle, 257" wheelbase 3.55 gears. Has a sleeper opening, but currently closed. The truck can go to work right now, but some things should be addressed. If interested, I'll tell you everything I know about it, good and bad.
I'd like $25,000, but its hard to evaluate these old trucks, so I'll entertain offers.

Is it a 113, 119 or 127 bumper to back of cab? What shape is roof cap? Or better quois how long has it leaked? How many mice and butchers been I. The wiring harness? Straitand tight or shook apart? Pass a bottle test? I don’t want to hurt feelings here but without a single pic and the words approximately 425hp I know most of the answers.
25k is an extended hood in really nice shape clean tight no leaks has most of its paint but dull with more than fair interior. Good runner but little history.
A really slick 359 with a bunk is worth a little money these days but they have a small following they are cool not comfy. Around here we put our really nice standard hood daycab sin the log woods. They are bout 20.
if it needs some love 15 and down. M
They are cool old trucks just no one really wants one to work any more. And one that’s almost straight all over might as well be beat to piss cause to get it to suite most of people that wants it…..it’s gonna be just as much work. -
Oxbow and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

1. I'll measure the bumper to cab tomorrow. 2. Roof cap doesnt leak and its in great shape, but one horn needs replaced. 3. I went through all the wiring and straightened it out fairly good. I tried to keep it all in alignment with the wiring schematics. 4. The front end is mostly rebuilt, new steers, bearings, seals, leafs, hangers, shackles, tie rods, shocks. The rear air leaf suspension is in great shape. Its actually a good riding truck. Even the old air ride seat is somewhat comfy. 5. As for a Bottle test, probably not. I think it needs a head gasket, but I'm not sure. I havent driven it much in the last year. 6. I say 425hp because its originally a 400 hp, but an air to air cooler was added and the pump was tuned up good. I can pull hills with a heavy load and still pass most trucks. 7. I do have a mousy 60" sleeper for it, just need the frame brackets, and I need to make them. 8. I'll get pics tomorrow.
So judging by what you said, its probably worth 15k to you. I'm not desperate enough to take 15k though.exhausted379, D.Tibbitt, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you suspect a blown head gasket it’s parts really. Unless a guy does his own work even at that you’re looking at 10 by time you’re done aftermarket and close to 20 if all CAT. A 38 year old truck in need of major engine work…..I wish you the bestD.Tibbitt, true blue, Last Call and 1 other person Thank this. -
Iirc, a small amount of bubbles in the bottle test is a warning, but tolerable. Large amounts of bubbles indicate shutdown and overhaul. Is that right?REO6205 Thanks this.
