Last time I called a Cummins shop I asked about the same 350 Cummins engine I was told $25,000. I about #### myself when a series 60 is $12,000 inframed.

It is not hard to get an extra 50 HP out of a 350 Cummins. Question is the condition of it with the age and mileage. A good old school shop should be able to inframe it and jack it up for $8 or 12K. If it does not have lower press fit liners make it so. You never know what you have tell it's taken apart. Could be scrap. Just my opinion.

1985 was first year for LPF liner kits. I think.

Search the Cummins big cam threads.
I can't remember who said it but one of the guys on this site said there's a place I think in Raleigh North Carolina they will give you a brand new rebuilt or remanufactured big cam for I think he said $11,000.
Someone else will have to help you with the transmission, but you're going to pay more if you don't have the identical transmission to trade for a core. So if you traded a 9-speed for an 18-speed they would probably sock you more for not having the right core. Some 9-speed can be converted to a 13 but I don't know about that era of Transmissions.
Just some friendly advice. If you're going to buy this truck to run everyday make sure you have plenty of money and time to work it over and make it dependable. Try to buy for as little as possible because believe me, you'll find things wrong with it you never dreamt of and you'll be spending plenty of money.
I don't mean that to deter you at all because you could buy a late model truck and the same thing could be. But if you really want it to be Dependable, it's really easy to buy a $5,000 truck and in the end you put $20,000+ into it no problem.
But if you bought an older truck and you put the time and the money into it you would have a piece of gold that's way better than that new junk, especially with a big cam Cummins- The absolute greatest of all time.Cottonmouth85 and Oldironfan Thank this. -
That is around $8900 worht of parts, so that means they wanted to charge over $15K in labor.
That is plain and simple them giving you a ridiculous price because they didn't want to work on it.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
