My dad has a 16ft box truck he uses to work from 3-11 A.M. After that it's just parked until he works the next day. I figured I could somehow use the truck to make money since I'm able to drive it. I don't know where to really get started. I am looking to do local jobs and thought about joining Amazon, but the age restriction is 21. I stumbled upon this site and hope someone can help me out. Thanks!
18 Year Old with a box truck, how can I get started?

Print some business cards and advertise you're available to do local hauling between certain hours.
Couple guys posted on here about that and they use a pickup truck and old horse trailer for local hauling.Another Canadian driver, Coffey, bzinger and 2 others Thank this. -

All I have is ideas that aren't really a "trucking" thing.
Stuff like clean outs, local delivery/moving stuff, etc. When I say moving, I'm talking special items. Not your average moving job.
Lots of ways you could put that truck to use. Advertise your services on Craigslist, Facebook, and other social media. Same with giving out business cards like mentioned in another post. An never overlook just straight up telling people what you do. When you get those first couple of gigs, go all out to do an excellent job, and let people spread the word for you. Just remember to stay consistent on doing a excellent job.
My other advice... Know what your worth. Don't do jobs for cheap. Cheap don't pay the bills, or pay for the wear an tear on the truck. Don't price yourself out the market, but don't go giving your service away for free. Don't go killing your body for peanuts.
I wish you luck and applaud you for looking outside the box for ways to make income.

To spin off of what @Sirscrapntruckalot suggested, which was great advice by the way, is maybe large item removal. People have old desks and china cabinets and tv stands they need taken to goodwill or the dump, but not everyone has a pickup truck. If you explore this avenue just be mindful of what the landfill regulations are. No batteries, tires, oil, paint, certain types of tv’s, stuff like that. Also I’d stay out of there when it’s raining. I’ve done landfill jobs end dumping and in the rain I just keep my tow pins in because it’s a disaster, I wouldn’t think a box truck would fair much different. There’s a niche for what you’re wanting to do for sure, you just gotta find it.

I was you but at seventeen. As they mentioned above offer take take any jobs breeding a truck. From hauling trash and brush to the trump to doing quick one or two pallet jobs delivery jobs.
Offer to help people move or pick up stuff from home depot and the like suck as big paint jobs and ply wood for the do it your selfers.
It will take a while took me almost three years
( I had a small cube truck) for the word of mouth really get around to here it was helpful.
But by then I had sold the truck to a small family hay farm.
It will work. Just stay at it night and day. 2 questions what does your dad put in it and can it tow a trailer?ProfessionalNoticer, Another Canadian driver and bzinger Thank this. -
