Anybody know any upgrades I can do to my 14l Detroit? I’ve got egr deleted and custom tune. Looking at upgrading turbo and injectors. Any help or part numbers would be appreciated.

A buddy had his egr done and tuned he was using the stage 1 turbo and kept blowing it every 18 months or so . He went to the stage 2 and it was still going strong 3 years later when the motor blew due to a burst heater line when he was sleeping .. Turns out the tune got rid of the safety shutdowns . After he rebuilt it and got new tune he disconnected the low water sensor to see if it shut down this time.. Maybe someone here can give you Leon’s contact info he’s the best guy around on series 60 imo

Ddec 5? If so, those N3 injectors are good for 750 horsepower. I've got a Borg Warner 171702 but they dont last on my 625HP engine. Better to use a s430sx 78m I'd think. Full tilt manifold and some high flow donaldson mufflers would do you good.

right now I have the variable vane turbo and still using vpod. I put a 12.7 exhaust manifold and all egr parts removed. I believe mine is the ddec5. It’s a 2005 model. Been inframed about 300 miles ago. Has plenty of power pulling hills. It just doesn’t take off fast like other trucks. Feels like it revs slow like it needs more fuel and then sometimes it will just surprise you and rev quick as hell. I’m wondering if the timing is not advancing like it’s supposed to. I plan on doing a lot of upgrades in next few months just need to know what to do.

Same deal here. I just put a blocker plate on my exhaust manifold and removed everything off the truck. When I out my bw171702 on, I didnt like how laggy it was off the line so the tuner adjusted it and now it's fine. Itll never be as responsive as a vgt but it does good now.
