I recently bought a '14 ft box truck because I had an idea to work for myself. I'm located in California and was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as far as work. Im looking to do deliveries( moving furniture, mail, anything that puts a dollar in my pocket. Please help and thanks in advance. Respectfully.

Gotta find the work before you find the truck ....you got the easiest part done .... not to mention now that you are "for-hire" there is a myriad of regulations you must follow (the fines are way too high not to follow them)....

But dude! It was a 14ft box truck. How could he pass it up without a way to work it?!?

Your best bets are bulk deliveries for print media, alcohol routes, or do a Hail Mary with (cough cough) Uship loads....lol.

Sell it and work for someone who runs box trucks doing furniture and appliance delivery. Learn on his dime, because you'll be broke otherwise. The learning curve is to steep just to buy a box truck on a whim. Their are unscrupulous companies in the local delivery business and they will ra#e you and you don't know how. I give you this advice based off of personal experience doing what you did. Wish you the best.

Definitely stay away from courier companies. Mail routes can make a decent living (i did that with a 14' box). The biggest problem with non-CDL trucks is that almost anyone can operate them. This means there are many people who know nothing about charging proper rates that will haul for free, so the shippers have no trouble getting their stuff moved on the cheap
