I've got a couple of questions for you. First I see you're aVW Era Sailor. Dad was a Jarhead there. I was also a Jarhead. Who were you with in Vietnam? Were you a Corpsman?
On to tires...I bought a pete on air leaf running 24.5 wheels. I've always had low air leaf before. Point being is that this one rides rougher. I usually run LP 285/75 R24.5s Yokohama drives and Bridgestone or michelin steers. My trucks have hauled in two categories... WAY over weight and fast hauling cattle. Or way underweight and speed limit-ish hauling electronics and special commodities. For the first time I'm about to get in to regular freight, like reefer, van, and step deck. Running legal weights, but mostly near 80k gross.
In your opinion, what is the smoothest riding tire, good longevity, especially in a LP 24.5. I know 11R are softer but I'm trying to keep my 5th wheel height down and I do not want 22.5 on this truck. Do you have any experience with good tires from cheaper brands? What about all position tires... your thoughts? Or running steers as drives? Sorry to flood you with questions, but you seem to know more than me and I'd appreciate any advice you've got.
14/16 ply tires are the "exact same tire"?

He’s just trying to sell you his tires he doesn’t have 16 ply tires I’m guessing or has incentives to sell the 14 over the 16’s. As far as air pressure goes the heavier the load the more air pressure you need but I never like having lower than 90psi. 100-95 psi is good, 90-95 is abit low but acceptable, anything lower than 85 I like to consider flat. Of course this is when the tire is stone cold.

You can get 8.25 rims rated for 130 psi and 7400 each

I wouldn’t even be looking for Goodyear junk to begin with, I’ve never seen a full set wear evenly even with rotations no matter what position they were or last more then a year, Chinese quality with Michelin price
I run what the side wall says except steers which is ~8 over, 128 psi is all I can get out of the compressor, Bridgestone 726 drives are 105, and the pos good years on my reefer are 110,Oxbow, bumper Jack and God prefers Diesels Thank this. -
