My original 9 yr old injectors are starting to show their age now so i was wondering if there was anybody that sells injector rebuild kits for the 14.0's? Or if not, are there any higher performance injectors or marine injectors? Truck still pulls great but I'm starting to get short injector response time codes occasionally in #'s 5 and 6 and a cylinder cutout confirms this. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

They are not Marine injectors. And no rebuild kits for a normal shop only injection machine shops and very specialized at that.
But you can buy rebuilt injectors at a lot of places, most dealers and larger diesel shops.
I have a new rebuilt injector for a 14 liter, never been installed, I bought last year, I'd let it go for $225. On line you can buy them for approx. 300 and around 375 at most shops for rebuilt. Or you can get brand new ones from Detroit diesel for approx. 700.
Easy to install yourself if your mechancially inclined. Most shops would tell you need to recalibrate the computer for new injectors codes as they have a time setting on them but this is so minut and makes so little difference, I wouldn't bother unless I had it in a shop with a scan tool available.
If you wanted to really do it up right, find a shop that can also install new injector cups as well. I beleive with the 14 liter, these can be installed without removing the head but some engines can not. Personally I wouldn't bother unless having the head off.
If you do your own overhead (adjusting the valves) you can easliy install new injectors, just be sure to vacume out the top of each piston when you remove the injector.05 FreightShaker Thanks this. -

I just have the one. I had bought an extra one for a previous truck and sold the truck before getting it installed.

Try looking into an additive called Top Secrets Stiction Eliminator. TA's and Petro's sell it. I've not had to personally use the stuff but from various places I've read about it's use, it seems to work as advertised. However, if you have the money and will to replace your injectors DO THAT! lol and be done with it.

The injector codes do make a difference. Injectors do not all flow the same due to manufacturing tolerances. The are flow tested and given a calibration code. This allows the ECM to compensate and adjust to make them all the same. I just set the codes for someone who replaced their own injectors, it had a slight miss at idle and a little smoke. Programming in the right codes solved it. You can get lucky and it may not make a noticeable difference, but why chance it?
Theirs no problem changing your own injectors, just be sure to write down the #'s and get it done. -
