I'm looking at older trucks for my small company and stumbled upon a 1973 peat with a 13 speed and 4 speed brownie. I was interested to learn more as I've never drivin a 2 stick but everything I see is 6x4 or 5 x 4 and so on I think this may be a custom job but why would a truck need 52 speeds if it has 400 horsepower?
13 speed with brownie box?

Most likely not a factory deal. 5 and 6 speed main boxes are pretty much non-existent nowadays in class 8 trucks. It stands to reason replacement parts are probably very rare and expensive. Previous owner probably found it was cheaper to put a 13 in it and just leave the aux box in. Most likely you could just stick the aux box in direct and just use the 13 speed as normal.
