Hey guys I have a 13 Pete 386 with a Paccar Mx-13. The gauge is showing oil pressure at 18 to 19 when truck is warmed up close to 180 to 200F.
When the engine is cole it is usually from 40 to 80, 80 being the truck just started and has sat over night. While truck is moving it is ok but while idling it is bad. I am getting engine lights for low oil pressure. I have replaced the sensor already but issue still persists. The mechanic has said the the oil pump must be changed.
Is this accurate for a Paccar or other things to check?
Thanks

Check the pressure with a mechanical gauge first. Both oil filter and spinner seated correctly? Paccar brand filters? I have seen aftermarket filters not fit the housing correctly.
johnnyboy2500 and spsauerland Thank this. -
spsauerland Thanks this.

How many miles on truck? What is your oil change intervals? What weight and brand of oil. Any recent EGR issues?

Only issue I have had in the last months were inlet nox sensor and that was replaced my Peterbilt under warranty since it only lasted 1 month. -
Check with mechanical gauge as pushbroom stated. Pull both oil filters. Pay close attention to the bearings top and bottom of the spinner or centrifugal filter. Also check the oil pressure sensor for rational to the gauge versus ecm data. Sensor failures are not uncommon but usually fail high. Also inspect all of the o rings on the main oil filter element stand pipe. These dont get replaced with the filter and can wear or come up missing.

For sure. We have had more sensor/ wiring issues then oil pump failures.

You are just below the spec. Good thing to re-check filters and bearings with centrifugal filter. Upper bearing you have to replace cap, lower one comes as a kit. I would suggest getting an oil analysis to see if maybe you have higher than normal soot or fuel dilution. I have seen NOx codes that are actually caused by sooted up venturi tubes and sooted up air management sensors.

This is inside the spinner.
That could lower the pressure
Longshot but worth asking about.
