New injectors are installed with new 0 rings including 1 big top 0 ring and 1 new bottom graphite “Crush” 0 ring. Some say it’s a temporary fix for damaged injector cups. Correct Official Detroit method is to remove head and change Cups. Both times my cups had visual damage from injector pounding. Crush ring 0 ring worked great both times taking up any voids. No need to overdue it unless doing an OH

Thanks again hopefully is @n injector or o rings seals from the injectors are the problem and nothing major, tomorrow ill find out I talk to Bruno the mecanic. He said its possible either or is the cause but of course they will run some test and do what he has to do to ..Forget to mention it does run rough and sometimes it does smell like its not burning diesel like its supposed.
Let me tell u this it started about a month ago doing this and guess what
3 weeks ago a different mecanic installed the lower end bearing kit which comes close to 400 ddlrs for kit and said that would take care of the problem because my oil psi was low and oil look thin . Well It lasted few days with normal oil psi and normal oil level.... So with all the reading and help from u guys and talking to other people I have a feeling it is something mention above … About 3 months ago I installed a used fuel injector ...Maybe that one is the problem....Im fairly new as owner operator but we learn as we go and of course im not a mecanic. Also Bruno mentioned something about fuel pressure possibly being to strong.

New rods and mains is good. Nothing lost there.Cheap insurance. Worn bearings usually causes low oil pressure. So that may have been a good call anyway

    Good afternoon update on truck

Mecanic says injector number 6 is busted which I know I bought that used one about 2 1/2 months ago didn't tell him that ..Also he says I have 2 more that are not fully 100 percent functional

Recommendation from him replace all injectors and know that all are being replaced , he says sometimes u replaced only what u need and a few months down the road the others one could sometimes start to fail.

I have a question for u guys.... would you buy them new at the freightliner all 6 injectors and does freightliner sell only new ones and aren't remanufactured or rebuild cost they run about 330.00 dllrs with echange

Or would u buy rebuilt injectors on the market ?

Just call freightliner all 6 come in a set at a cost of 1792.00 and they are remanufactured there is no more original equipment brand new on those injectors...

I would get them all done at once. The labor is almost the same to do all 6 at once.

I had mine done at Interstate Power Systems in Carol Stream, IL. I wish it had happened about 50 miles closer to Iowa. Then I would have it done at Truck Country in Davenport. My carrier gets 10% over cost for parts and a low hourly rate. I'm guessing it probably it would have been $1,000-$1,500 less than Interstate charged.

That is not bad for all 6. Make sure they are Detroit reman injectors. If you are going to keep the truck a while, I would definitely go ahead and do all 6.

In the future, when you check the oil. Use a clean white paper towel, if there is diesel in the oil it will start to separate from the black oil. U can also smell it.

We all live and learn, I have been around these trucks 36 yrs. I try to learn something new every day.

    Good luck!!
