Greetings. I have a 2007 Volvo day cab with D12 465hp engine, 10 speed trans, and 3.58 rears. Truck has 11R22.5 tires. It's near time for new tires. Should I switch to lowpro 22.5, which my two trailers run? Or should I stick with the 11R's? What will I gain or lose by switching to the lowpro's? Truck currently averages 6.5 mpg. Thanks.
11R22.5 to 295/75r22.5 What will I lose or gain

Your rpms will go up by about 100-150 at cruising speed

I hate Low Pro Tires. I may be in the minority but I hate them.
They say you have less rolling resistance so maybe you will get a little better mileage I don't know. But they are closer to the rim and that's got to make your truck ride more rough. And I think they look ugly to boot.
If Al Bundy had anything to say about it, he would call them mamby pamby girly man tires. And he needs a man-sized flush like his father... I guess that's for another thread, lol.

At the same psi, youll mostly loose a little load rating, rpms to maintain same speed will be 100-150 rpm higher, (that may be good, may be bad for your setup, not sure, i went the other way and had to drop a gear to maintain my rpm at where i was because that was already the sweet spot, you dont have another gear to hit going higher so if you run too low a rpm, thats a good move, if already correct or too high, prepare to drive slower.
Mpg will increase marginally on better rolling resistance (.5% better) (but see previous paragraph, driving style and rpm make more of a difference) ride will be 5% stiffer (mpg will *look* worse unless you correct your odometer to what the truck now has)Ssgtkevin and silver dollar Thank this. -
Might be just as easy to eventually switch the trailer tires out.

Thanks everyone. I'm gonna stay with the 11R's on the tractor and switch the trailers to 11R's when they need tires. Thanks again.
