That’s what I use, 1300. It’s probably the most common since the late ninety. Before that Rotella ruled, I believe.

What does the manual say? I run 10/30 in my MX13 because that’s what it calls for. And the DD13 has a bypass oil filter so your service interval should be closer to 40-50k miles unless the manual says different. Dropping the oil at 20k is probably a little excessive for that engine.

You can buy 55 gallon drums online, but it’s probably not a good idea if you just have one truck. I’ve read online that once you open up the drum, the oil will begin to deteriorate.

Your DD13 probably needs 10w30. There are three different oil change intervals depending on how your truck operates: severe, short haul, and long haul. You can find the charts in your engine manual (about 169 pages) by searching in Google for:

Also, your aftertreatment system is probably GHG14, seeing how your truck is a 2015.

Your DD13 engine is smaller than the DD15, so it needs less engine oil. The manual has it listed at 38 liters (10 gallons), but I recommend adding 9.5 gallons and also draining the oil when it is still hot (140 F; don’t burn yourself) so it can drain more fully. Once you add the 9.5 gal, wait a couple minutes, and check the oil dipstick.

By the way, the full official Detroit instructions for your engine oil change and fuel filter change are in the manual I mentioned earlier. You want to find out whether your oil pan is plastic or aluminum as the drain plug torque spec is different. To my surprise, mine is plastic, so it needs 33 ft lbs.

Lastly, do not replace your fuel filters along with your oil change due to possible engine damage as you’re trying to start up your engine, which can take a few seconds of cranking. You can do the oil change first. Idle it for about 15 minutes, then turn it off to change the fuel filters next.
