I put in six remans with that part#, and i got 2 weeks out of it and #6 injector went dead. Got it replaced by cat for no charge. I still think it runs kinda rough thou. Almost like one unit is not doing the same work as the other five. I have been told the quality of these remans from cat are not that great. I,m been waiting for another one to fail.:biggrin_25511:

Havent seen that many with 10R8501s idling rough, that was why they changed part number from 10R0957, the 957 were been rebuild with the wrong spring pressure in the tip causing a rough idle.
Did you put in the correct injector codes?

All were installed at Cat dealers. Engines ran good till new inj were installed at time of overhaul. tried the correct trim codes but made no differance. cyl cut out shows all ok, but at about 900-1000 rpms the whole truck shakes. did not start this till 8501s were installed.

If it got overhauled at the same time it could be from other causes, maybe low compression on one cylinder or badly matched piston weights. I'd take it back to the dealer and tell them its unacceptable and you want it fixed.
    Is it rough under load?
    Any blowby?

All go to the latest number you are using and as Jas said that Number should have fixed a few known issues Cat have had over the years.

I guess your at the mercy of the Cat dealer but my first thought would be that what have they done when they rebuilt it?????
Odd it had one fail straight away and even after replacement you still have a problem... I think its trying to tell you something and its unusual for the injector so be sus Again.

Mind you I quite often have to remove the odd injector actuator and clean them out as the slightest bit of crap will make them go out of sinc with the others and a dirty fisted Fitter is enough, or a peel of one of the O rings due to lack of Lube when installed.

Check Fuel pressure and also make sure the trims are As per the injectors and to do that you will need to remove the covers... Incase some fitter thought he would put his own in to help you out!!!!! :biggrin_2554:

Over tightening of the wireing harnes at the injector can squash the contact and bring them together and with engine vibrations they can contact and short to ground. so many things so just do the basics first.

one more thing and that is Reman is a worry "in my opinion" as i see 90% of failed injector are reman and i know some Cat dealer refuse to use them in trucks. From my personal testing the remans vary wildly even with the correct trims yet original injectors are quite tight in flow/trim relationship.

Then again I trim new or Reman before i fit them to an engine so i never have to guess whats wrong.
