Does anyone know where I can find a list of Truck stops or fuel stops that offer #1 fuel or a 50/50 or above winter blended fuel?
Some truck stops only offer straight up number 2 year round and I want to make sure that I'm putting in the coldest rated fuel in my truck during the winter.
I hate stopping at truck stop after truck stop, or calling truck stop after truck stop trying to find out what blend of fuel they are selling and getting a clerk on the phone that is clueless about diesel fuel.
#1 or Winter Blended Diesel fuel

Most if not all Town Pumps in Montana offer that. I’m not sure where your located though.

If you buy fuel where you run, it has usually been treated enough to not gel.

Depends on the supplier.... I haul fuel in the winter and I don’t trust anyone......
That should tell you something.....Studebaker Hawk Thanks this. -
The ditz behind the counter isn't going to know. Generally is is treated to conditions in the market it is sold. Buy fuel in Alabama and you are going to have trouble in Indiana.
The major chains are the best bet, they have very large customers who are going to be unhappy if their fuel causes operational problems.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
K&h in gilman Illinois does a great job of treating their fuel. They post the test results on the entrance door. Last year when the polar vortex had actual air temps in the -20 range. They switched over to blended #1 testing down into -40 range. Everyone one else had frozen pumps. Never had any problems with their fuel.

Just get some anti-gel, not many places sell #1 anymore unless it's like Montana some place that get really cold. Add anti-gell and idle the truck all night if it starts to get in the teens or lower
James j Thanks this. -
I would get anti-gell first or idle the engine all night if in the teens at night. Once it gets to single digits I would definitely run anti-gell and idle engine all night. Not even look for #1 just because it so hard to find and it was never cheap not sure what it sells for today.

I don't know your running area, but from what I've seen, Kwik Trip (Kwik Star in IA) sell #1, as do several Cenex stops. I don't have a list, but I've seen them in SD, MN, and ND. I'm just about positive Town Pumps throughout MT sell it, too.
