I threw a inner cap the other day and now trying to pull the outer wheel to change It. I tried to hook up my 1 inch impact wrench off the air tank and still can't get sufficiant air to run it. Truck airs up fine (1969 WFL 8v71 DD). Am I missing something. Oh-Bought one of those torque multiplyer off ebay. Could work on front tires but will not fit in the wheel rim on the back. Big pain in the ###. Seems the lugs are too close and the curve of the rim makes a tight space to set the leg. Socket is too short also. If I can get the lugs off and remove the outer rim I can T-Bar the inner tire off and put a new one on with out removing the inner rims. I'm out in the bushes.:biggrin_2557:

1" impact wrench is a good gun, up to 300 NM torq. usually 150 PSI is enought! I used promary tank port!

About torque multipliers...: it is a good weapon too, may crack lug!

you will not have enough volume off the truck tanks they will be empty in a couple of seconds

A lot depends on the inner diameter of the hose connecting the air tank to the wrench.Pressure is only one requirement , volume is the other. If the orifice of the quick connectors or hose is to small you wont get enough volume flowing through fast enough to drive the wrench.

It takes a large air line and lots of air to run a inch gun at full power. I doubt you will get very good performance running it off the truck air tanks. The tq. multiplier could you add a extension and to it so you dont have to get it in side the wheel. You would also need a bar or pipe for the leg to brace it against the ground.

I would always use the jack as a brace if I didn't have the correct equipment.Only lifted the axle once nuts were cracked. As the jack could only jack to about half wheel height , I would have to roll forward or backwards to get at top nuts.

I used my truck air to run that 1' impact wrench for couple of years now. It is important that you use 1/2 inch air hose to run you gun, 3/8 not going to work. Also an air tank has big and small holes in it, some of them used some just plugged. Make sure you use the big one that on the center of your tank. The quick connector has to be of the right size too. That way you not making any orifice or restriction between the tank and the wrench. With engine at high idle there is always enough air to run it.
