I recently signed up for 1 Dispatch and yesterday received an email with a small carrier application then a 22 page PDF for Manheim Transporter Registry Pack. I read the document but it seems the same as the one 1 Dispatch sent. Is there any benefit to signing up for the Manhiem Transport Package? Has anyone else done this before ?

    Thanks Guys

Waste of time you will never get work from Manheim unless you know someone there they give all the work to big brokers it's a joke they say they want you to sign on because they don't want brokers ... All your find are 1 or 2 cars going to places nobody wants to go it's a joke

That depends on how busy your local Manheim Auction is and how many other direct transporters they have. The transporter packet will allow you to do the inbound work for the auction, they will offer you direct to carrier loads that are not on the board, nor do they go to brokers. The catch is you only have 48 hours to get the unit delivered to the auction, so you have to be available, if you turn down more than a few a year they will discontinue using you. I have been doing this since before Ready existed, they came in and we were required to go thru them instead of directly thru the auction dispatch. It can be good, if you are geared up for it, also if you can do inop units they will have more work for you. About 75% of my work for our 5 trucks come thru the Manheim program, we have been a preferred vendor since day one of the Ready/Manheim partnership.

That is interesting to know. I have sent the packets in and actually stopped in the Ready office at Manhiem Statesville and they said they would expidite the application ( not holding my breath) but I think its worth a shot. Ready has quite a bit in my region but I am unable to transport Inops at this point

Keep in mind, you will not start off at the top, you will get what no one else wants until you prove yourself reliable. The most important thing to remember, when you are a Manheim direct to carrier transporter (that is what Ready calls it) you have a very limited time frame to get the units picked up and delivered, no exceptions and no resetting the times like you can do in the load board side of Ready. In my case that means my trucks run their routes 5 days a week, even if it is not full loads, otherwise you lose preferred status and will not be dispatched any more direct to carrier work from Manheim.

We have been a Manheim carrier since before Ready even existed, going on our 14th year now, and even back then we started moving single unit rv and boat trailers and salvage, worked our way into the "regular" work. It took years to get the territory we have now which generates about 150 units a week between the two facilities we serve.

Good luck, once you get set in your ways it is nice having a steady flow of work and not searching the boards for busy work, it takes time but in my opinion direct shippers are the way to go rather than irregular route work. Once you know your service area you can solcit the dealers in that area for their work coming from Statesville.

I think what is benificial to me is that I can only haul one at a time forcing me to pick up and deliver within a very tight time frame. I am right now delivering at a rate of no more than 2 business days from time of pick up. I have to unload before another load. So the time frame for me is pretty much what I have been doing. I have only had to cancel one run due to truck issues which I do not like to do at all. I do hope that Statesville can be a primary pick up for me because it is so close. My one concern is the weight issue. I am restricted to carrying smaller cars and SUV's Trucks bigger or equal to mine may be an unsafe situation for me. That is my only concern

If the work volume merits it you will be able to upgrade trucks, once you know you will have a steady flow it will be easier to justify the additional expense. Being you only do one at a time you will be very useful to them in getting the odd ball units nowhere near anythung else, the stuff guys like me don't like doing because it is very costly to send a tractor trailer 200 miles out of route for 1 car.
