well seems to have been successful, no leaking, don't really notice any performance, better or worse, will be checking fuel mileage tomorrow.
yup nothing $862.00 and 30 minutes couldn't cure.
unreal those rigs are so expensive.

well thanks again HeavyD, happy trails

Glad to hear! Yah, honestly, as a mechanic stuff like that really bums me out because when I look at that part I don't see nearly a grand there! Oh well, at least your not dealing with DPFs!!!

Hi Heavyd, My name is KJ. I own a 2007 Volvo with a cummins. I would like your input if possible. My truck calls for the 3770742 (2836554). I found the 3770743 (2836555) brand new OEM for $360.00. I was told they both function the same and the only difference is that the 3770742 is an aluminum body valve while the 3770743 is a plastic body valve. Are you aware if this is true or not? Do you know of any pros or cons for both valves? I am really tempted to buy the 3770743 due to the price difference. What is your advice? Thankyou.

When I search on Quickserve, the 742 and 554 parts come up not found. The 743 and 555 are good part numbers. It's been a while since I changed one. I would go with whatever is cheaper and has the same fitting ports on it so you don't have to re-plumb any lines.

Hi Heavyd and thank you or your response. I called cummins and the 743 and 742 are good numbers, but the odd part is they don't stock the 743. They only stock the 742. I would have to special order the 743 from Cummins. 743 is $60 cheaper than 742. I think I am gonna take the gamble and purchase the 743 off of Ebay and will keep you updated on the results.

    Heavyd Thanks this.

Ok folks. Here is the verdict. Cummins makes 2 Turbo Control Air Valve for the ISX CM870. Aluminum body (part# 3770742 or 2836554) & a plastic body (part# 3770743 or 2836555). When placed next to each other, you can not tell the difference. I paid $360.00 for the plastic body valve (OEM brand new in the box) via Ebay. Truck runs great with no codes or faults!!!!! JUST BE CAREFUL WHEN INSTALLING THE UPPER FITTING. VERY FRAGILE AND THE THREADS CAN BE EASILY STRIPPED. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you everyone for all your input and for what you contribute to us truckers to keep us rolling at a minimum expense.

    QUALITYTRUCK and Heavyd Thank this.
