Let’s admit it, we all love a loud jake brake. I hope there’s no shame by me asking this question...
So what’s the best way to make a loud jake brake? Obvious answers are to put in straight pipes(dynaflex/Lincoln Chrome) and also to remove the mufflers. Does it also depend on whether or not you are running dual or single turbos? Or the kind of motor your running(do pre 2000s engines sound better?) Anything else that I missed that could help?
Also what is helpful to get a rich popping sound? Some jakes are loud but just sound a little goofy; they make a popping sound but at a slow rate.Others really exaggerate that rumbling noise. I’ll put an example here:
    Amazing sound jake:
Loud but popping noise not as often:

    Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Caterpillar sounds pretty darn good with straight duals.

I used to scare the bejezus out of my Auction Boss who thinks the big engine is destroyed before his ears.

I don't care for a loud jake brakes. It's kind of obnoxious honestly.

With that being said I think different engines sound a little different with their Jake brake.

I had some kind of blower beneath the muffler on my Cummins big Cam and somebody told me how cool it would sound without the muffler hooked up.

I went down my driveway, hit the jake brake, and put their truck right in my garage and put the muffler on immediately.

That thing Could Wake the Dead. No reason to do that to people. Jake brake should slow you down, not make people jump out of their skin when they hear it.

A better way to let people know you are a top dog is to drop your pants at a rest area and make thrusting motions towards passing traffic.
