How is route 15 between I-80 and Harrisburg? I was wondering how it compares to route 22 from Harrisburg to state college.
Avoiding Pennsylvania toll road. How is route 15 north of Harrisburg?

It's not a bad road but 322 is a whole lot better .
al_huryn, baha, stayinback and 2 others Thank this. -
15 is a good way to go up to 80, if going north. If going to 80w you can take 322w either to 99n to 80 or you can ride 99s to 322w again to pa970n to 80.
Rideandrepair, stayinback, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
dang. There's that one mountainous stretch of 322 where it's 20 mph for trucks and no way for anyone to pass.
bryan21384 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
It isn't bad. I run through there often enough and the 20 mph downhill is a bit excessive on the slow side. I can hold 80k at 35-40 just on the jake (isx). Yes I am admitting to being a bad boy when nobody is watching.

.
And part of 15 is restricted. The part from 322 to I-81. But that’s easy to get around.
.
And 15 is a good road for trucks and it’s right along the river. Gives you something to look atRideandrepair, The_Great_Corn and bzinger Thank this. -
How many Turbo's has Milroy Hill destroyed?
How many tickets have State College Cops written on the Stretch of 45 mph?
Yeah,It's the way to go I suppose- we Don't have many other options out of Harrisburg,York For Free going West.
Take your Pick,PA Turnpike and Drain the bank- Or 322 and Work the Motor good.......Rideandrepair and The_Great_Corn Thank this. -
322 ain’t bad I’ve taken a lot of big loads that way. 15 ain’t bad either, but to state college 322 is the rt
The_Great_Corn and bzinger Thank this. -
With the relatively big horse engines today 322 would be the run west towards 80. 7 mountains upgrade is not that hard. It's hard enough for those who dont do well in winter ice or snow.
15 north from I-81 is restricted to non 102 in Marysville and easy enough to get around (Cross river run to Duncannon recross from east bank)
15 north towards williamsport with a detour across Sunbury river dam area to run the east bank towards I-180 where it's flat compared to the big hill south of WP on US 15 (With possibly still a scale) is not that bad of a road. They have removed a mountain or two to make it 4 lane in places.
It's a older route that Ive run since I started trucking and features a little bit of dutch eating and good views and runs fast particularly at night. I don't know what it is like there now Ive not been along there in over 20 years.Rideandrepair, The_Great_Corn and bzinger Thank this. -
Lots of trucks taking 15 all the way up to 180. I prefer to jump over to 180. Think it's 5 miles longer. Before pa147 went under construction, that was the way to go. 35' length limit and ongoing construction now. Time wise it works out about the same.
Highway Sailor and bzinger Thank this.
