As far as I can tell, Dayton says they’re hiring everything all the time but it isn’t true. I’m not really sure what the point in that is it, that’s what I was told.

I’ve applied twice and never heard a thing and I’m more than qualified.

I applied at Dayton here in Nashville. I called a few days later and spoke to the TM. He told me that they never take down the job postings. I got all excited fer nothing.

Gotta ask yalls opinion would you buy a house while otr or just rent in the area you want the local job and then buy a house after you get a year or so with the local job. My logic is renting 1st would help you afford more house. If you buy a house while otr the income is most likely 35 to 40k average but if you have the local job for a year and then buy a house you're income would be higher. Most ltl companies ive seen pay at least 55 or more

That all depends on what kind of otr you are going to be doing. My first year I was only home 3 or 4 days a so I just stayed with friends or family while home and saved all I could. If you are doing regional and are home every week then go ahead and buy now while rates are still low. If you plan on spending weeks out then just rent a room from someone and save for the down payment.

I'm pretty sure you guys are correct about the job postings staying up on the company website unlike other places that only show currently available jobs. The only way to know for sure is to call and ask the terminal manager. But apply anyway so they can see your info on the computer when you inquire. The tricky part is that if they are "hiring" it might be only to fill 1 or 2 spots at any given time. It's not like there's any real turnover.

We recently hired a guy who applied nearly a year ago but never followed up because he had decided to stick it out at his company. Low and behold, the TM was going through some old apps, called him up, and the rest is history.

By the way, Memphis and Nashville are on the edge of our territory and are new locations for us, so the workforce is very small, but will be growing. I'm seeing a surprising amount of freight around the system originating from and bound for those two terminals.
