Rental trucks exempt from eld mandate untill 2022

    Hmmm...so if I were to create a leasing company holding the title and registration, and my trucking company were to lease that truck for 5 days at a time (pick the truck up from the leasing company every Monday, and return it every Friday) then I'd be exempt from the ELD requirements because the leased truck is not being driven "8 days in a row"...it's parked on Saturday and Sunday. Trucking company lettering could be placed upon magnets to hang on the doors, which would cover the leasing company info.

    Wonder how they'll deal with that? If I thought of it in the few minutes it took to read the article, I'm sure others are having the same thoughts...

    Hmm ( will achieve a safety level equal to or greater than a eld) then why they putting elds on trucks in the first place
