The teamsters are not what they used to be. Allowing one group of drivers to be paid less then others is not what a union is supposed to be about. The older drivers will break it off in younger drivers ##### to keep their pay and benefits. I got mine and screw the next generation of drivers.

The position I had an interview for was for driver training combined city p&d driver/ dock. It sounded like a real good career at the interview. I guess it's not what it sounded like

ABF can be a career job, it's much better than going from one OTR job to the next while sacrificing home life and health among other things, it just takes forever for stability. UPS freight will not hire you with less than 18 months driving, they also start you off low but top rate 4 years in is one of the best out there.

I guess I'm going to have to make my own experience. I'm still young (23) and a rookie, maybe in 5-10 years it will all be worth it

I started at 22 doing OTR, I wish I would have started out doing LTL. From bouncing around at a few OTR jobs, one food service and Yellow Freight it took me about 8 years to find stability at UPS Freight and then 3 more to get to full rate (it's 4 years now for full rate). But it's well worth it, I could be trying to make 65k OTR with weeks away from home and 10-14 hour days, instead in LTL I work no more than 40 hours a week and should pull in 75k this year.
