Don't believe everything you see in the movies HillyBilly :smt047
Seriously though, it's not too bad apart from the cops, the RTA (our version of the DOT) and the f***wit other drivers out there. Oh and of course, you have to be able to put up with the BS over the CB![]()

what are the chances they would hire someone out of florida?
-
I'm sure as long as you have legal right to work in the U.S. they wouldn't care. I went to orientation with a guy from Nigeria or some #### place. Most trucks are auto's. My very first truck was a stick but that is rare. Now I have a Columbia that is full auto and runs 72. That guy didn't know what he was talking about, are slowest trucks are governed at 65. Hardly, and i wish I could better portray sarcasm" very very very slow". That guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

Honestly, I don't know about Florida. I run through there but don't know any drivers who live there. Not saying that they don't but you would have to call.
-
Does anyone know what kind of runs they have? Their website doesn't say much about off time and regional runs. I am thinking of getting into trucking but I can't stay out for 14 days at a time so Roehl's 7/3-4 looks appealing to me and I was wondering if DeBoer has anything similar?
Thanks! -
We have regional but it depends where you live. I get home about every ten to fourteen days, never out longer than that. If your a new driver I wouldn't recommend regional they just don't get enough miles, however the choice is yours and I have heard good things about roehl but I have a serious time believing that guys who take 3 days off a week get paid 30,000 plus.

Ok thanks- I live in north central Wi and the reason for the idea of the home time is that I am single and I own a house so I have to take care of it sometime
I currently am a mechanic and I am just tired of doing that. I work 6 days a week to make a living and its not that great of one either! Trucking would be a major career/lifestyle change for me, but living in the northwoods it really kills my good paying job options. It seems like most of the good jobs around here require a CDL of some sort and I thought I could go through the ROHL driver training school and spend a few years over the road and if I like it I could just keep doing that or if I don't, I could do something local as far as trucking or some sort of related job...

Well living in Wisconsin you'll get great hometime I run up there all the time. Don't bank on OTR till you have tried it, it truly is a hard way to make a buck. That being said there are people who like it. I think if I was single it would be a whole lot less stressful. I'm not trying to rain on your parade but I've been a lot of things and nothing has compared to truck driving. Again research companies well and you won't have any problems. The only company I have driven for is deBoer so they are the only ones I can give an honest opinion about. By the way I'm from the South but I friggin love Wisconsin, except the Packers go Cowboys,.

thanks for the infor on deboer, I spoke to a recruter from there today.

We only have one full time recruiter, the other one is actually a safety dpartment guy who helps out. The full time recruiter works in Wisconsin and the other one works in Texarkana.
