I have gone through a few gps systems, mostly garmin, and some have just not been up to par. I wanted to know what you guys recommended as the best GPS system for us TRUCKERS. I dont know if there is a GPS "specifically" geared for truckers but I know that some are very bad (unfriendly) for truckers because they tend to send you through small roads and what not. I am currently looking at the Garmin Nuvi 465T.
nüvi® 465T
Truck-friendly navigation
Truck specific routing for lower 48 states, preloaded NTTS Breakdown Directory, preloaded street maps for North America, lane assist, FM lifetime traffic, Bluetooth® wireless, speaks street names, Where am I?, photo navigation
Let me know what you guys think. Is this a good one or is there a better one out there, like magellan, etc.
Thanks
Best GPS for truckers 2010

Rand McNally makes a unit designed for truckers from the GROUND UP.
In fact, June 1st they released a new version of firmware that makes this unit awesome.
The Rand McNally comes in a 5" and a 7". I have the 5" TND-500 and couldn't be happier with it.

PC Miller and Randy McNally look to be the best but which one of the 2? Which model of the PC Miller is best
-
Keep in mind it's "Miler" not "Miller". I think the only difference between the models is really the screen size. They should have the same navigation software and map database AFAIK.

Also the Navigator units aren't to be confused with the CoPilot Truck software which you can run on your laptop with a GPS antenna.

Miler! I see the Miler is more accurate than Randy but Randy has a lot more features. Are the extra features that much more beneficial.

PCM430: original model. now discontinued, but you can buy refurbished units at a steep discount still in some places. (2009 maps and software)
PCM440: replaced the 430. Improved hardware, more ruggedized than 430. (2009 maps and software)
PCM540: 5" screen version. (2009 maps and software)
PCM740: 7" screen version (2009 maps and software)
NOTE: all of the above units are about to get the 2010 map update made available soon. But the software features will be basically the same.
PCM450: replaces the 440 now, though there are still new and refurb 440's through lots of sources at cheap prices available. This model contains 2010 maps and new software (buttons and features) beyond those in the units above. Several important feature upgrades over the "x40" series above include logging miles by state, quarterly map updates via the internet, improved weigh station warnings, new POI database, playback your tracks, lane assist. This "x50" series does not make the "x40" series obsolete yet, but is the newest generation from PCM.
Hopefully that clears up the differences between the models a bit.

how do you get updates on these units?
-
Depends on WHICH model.
430 - if you still have the original 2008 maps then you get the 2009 update at pcmnav dot com for free.
440 / 540 / 740 - You already have the latest update on them. However, the 2010 update should be out next month which will be available at pcmnav dot com for a price and mailed to you on SD memory card.
450 - updates available every quarter direct via the internet. Free thru Dec 31st, 2010.
