Just seems like a fine line , between once or twice a month , until 5 years from now. every place charges for parking... I don't want to encourage the idea so I don't contribute my money...

Flip side of that is if you had the land and a paved it would you allow everyone to park for free? Or would you want some type of income from it? I doubt that having an employee to collect the garbage is free. I doubt that snow removal in the winter is free.

Edit: if it was a regular spot you used to sleep at then why not just ask your company to let you get 50gal of fuel when you’re running through there and then parking isn’t an issue.

I'm not in the truck stop business so I have no idea what they make money on.. this place is a casino too so I doubt they are hurting for money... my company only fuels at loves so it ain't happening. I'll just go up to Monticello and Park at the grocery store or stay in Shiprock next time... not a regular route for us

I hardly ever park at truckstops to begin with but sometimes it happens and I always go spend a couple bucks inside when I do...

I used to get anxious when it came time for parking. The worst case is coming in late to a truck stop and competing for a spot. I've learned that there are a lot of options. Scales, rest stops, etc. My company uses loves, but I can go to a paid spot if necessary. Only had to pay 3 times in 3 years. Ramps and shoulders are the worst case scenario, that I haven't ever had to do. I also try to start early so I can get good spots.

There's a free lot about a mile north of the scale on the left side, next to a coffee shop. I had to stay there once because the Love's was packed.

That figures. I know the coffee shop used to have parking and they closed it off. But across from it, there are several of those big concrete barriers (Jersey walls?), and on the other side of those barriers is the dirt lot. That's closed off now also?

Yes it looked to be completely closed off , and no parking signs now.. I'm sure because drivers just throw trash everywhere

Well, that's a shame. Because that Love's up there is an absolute clown show when it comes to parking.
