    You’re probably right.

1 driver was a Russian I think, I had trouble understanding him. But, he was a driver and needed help, bad thing is the parking spots are at an angle, and he was trying to back in from the wrong direction, that sure didn’t help at all and he couldn’t understand that looping the lot to turn around would simplify his situation….

It’s maybe just my opinion but it seems like anymore some of these APU’s are nosier than any ThermoKing I’ve ever pulled.

I wasn't a fan of the noise and did everything possible to avoid it. I still have almost all of my hearing because I worked hard to keep it.

You went and told these drivers the error of their ways and voiced your opinion to them about it instead of just whining about it on the internet, right?

Brother in law owned a good size excavation company. He never jumped on a machine without ear plugs, still has good hearing.

Me… I grew up in the drilling industry. Those old Buda, Waukesha, LeRoi, Hercules, and Red Seal engines on those rigs only had a straight exhaust. I’ve noticed over the years my hearing fading on the right side, the side exposed to the engine 12’—15’ away….

Not really. Loud idling trucks and air governors popping off are just as annoying.

I'd rather nose in to a view of some trees or a farm or almost anything than a bunch of trucks and driver's dumping piss annd trash out of the window and backing in to each other.

I’m lucky, the monotonous sound of reefers/APUs/idling engines is a guarantee of good sleep for me. Seriously puts me right out, always has, when I was a toddler throwing temper tantrums my folks would put me in my room with a running vacuum cleaner, and I’d be sleeping inside of three minutes.

Specially if theres a reefer at the other end, I've often wondered why drivers park like that, I just put it down to the fact that it was to tight to back in, but then they still face the same issues having to back out, when they leave, maybe they wait till later in the day when less trucks are parked near them before they leave.
